Florence has shown her prowess as an author through her book Woman At The Top. In this book, Florence argues that every woman has a dream but few pursue theirs. In a few short years, she has risen to the top of the corporate ladder by dint of hard work, determination and by applying certain success principles.

Woman At The Top dares women to dissociate themselves from mental sclerosis and pursue their vision with passion. It is a clarion call for women to recognise the giant in them and to aim for and achieve their boldest dreams.

Florence Musengi, an MBA graduate and Chartered Public Relations Practitioner has held high level Corporate positions including Head of Communications and Public Affairs and later Vice President of SAAB AB, Executive Director of Reutech and Chief Executive Officer Paramount South Africa, a position she currently holds. She has worked in other various Institutions and Organizations encapsulating Universities, The United Nations and large International Corporates.

She is the founder of WAYAM Communications Consulting, an organization that deals with Strategic Media Relations, Internal Employee Engagement and Brand Building and Reputational Management. Florence is a seasoned Empowerment Coach, self-made Businesswoman who co-founded FLOIDA Engineering Services a company that focuses in strategic research and development, engineering consulting and project management among others. 

The owner of a clothing company called WAYAM Clothing, specializing in African Garments, Personal Image Making and Corporate Dressing for Success. She believes Fashion is instant language; what you wear is how you present yourself to the world especially in today’s world. 

Her Leadership Empowerment Book titled “Woman at the Top” will inspire you to reach the top of your goals no matter the odds!

Business Engage runs a Hot Tables networking event in the evening from 17h30-21H30.

The idea of these evenings is to offer attendees of the event an inspirational discussion with an expert in their field in an intimate small group environment. These events are run as learning and networking opportunities and include hosts who are experts in their various fields as well as a guest speaker who speaks for 20 minutes.

The invited experts stay at their allocated table and address a topic of their choice or just have free flow conversation but co-ordinated by the host. Before the event brief personal profiles of the hosts are e-mailed to all who will be attending the event. The attendees gravitate to the table of their choice over a 3 course dinner i.e. starters, main course, pudding depending on the expertise they want to gain or the business linkages they want to make.

Jo was appointed Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer for Telesure Investment Holdings in October 2015. She leads the Group Finance, Group Treasury and Group Compliance Functions and plays a pivotal role by enabling, and driving, the execution of the Group Strategy that will provide optimal return for the Shareholder. Previously she worked at Standard Chartered Bank as the Chief Financial Officer for the Africa region.

She was an executive member of the Africa and global Finance Management Groups responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction, governance oversight, external stakeholder management and business partnership to 15 countries in Africa and globally for the Finance function. Finance, the Africa shared service centres and corporate real estate teams across the continent fell under her remit. Prior to her appointment at Standard Chartered Bank, she was the Chief Financial Officer of Ubank Limited responsible for Finance, Treasury and Strategy and has also led the finance function on a Pan-African basis as the Head of Finance for Barclays Africa, the Middle East and Indian Oceans. She is a director of Standard Chartered Bank Zimbabwe Limited, and chairs the board of the Charities Aid Foundation Southern Africa.

She is part of the South Africa Boss of the Year alumni for 2013, was identified by Euromoney as one of Africa’s top 20 rising stars in 2014 and is a member of the African Leadership Network (ALN) class of 2015.

Jo is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Professional Banker of the Institute of Bankers in SA (PBSA) with a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Wales. She is a highly principled and passionate about people and philanthropy. She counsels cancer patients, works with young entrepreneurs, mentors women in business, is a member of the 30% Club Steering Committee for Southern Africa and an adjudicator for the 2015 Technology Top 100 (TT100) Awards. She has been a sponsor and mentor on the SCB Women in Leadership Programme and Africa Emerging Leadership Programme, mentored on the Black Entrepreneurship Initiative and served on the SAICA (South African Institute of Chartered Accountants) Initial Professional Development and Exam Committees.

She is married to a Zimbabwean born entrepreneur, has four children and enjoys traveling, art, history and motorbike riding.
