PMI South Africa Gauteng Branch - July Members Meeting - 18 July 2013 - 17:45 to 19:15.

Topic: The Human Being Hiding in Your Project Team. Venue: First Rand Bank
Speaker: Brenda Taylor

Synopsis:
A team that feels appreciated will perform.

A conversation I once overheard between project managers one of whom, on paper, should have been the best PM in the world went something like this:

Paper PM: “I want your project task list because tasks are how you get projects done.”
Other PM: “I don’t agree. People are how you get projects done.”

Sometimes as project managers, we are so focused on getting the tasks done, that we forget about the human beings who have to do those tasks.

Those human beings who, like us, are sometimes inclined to be demoralized or demotivated.

So what makes someone want to come to work and want to deliver on their tasks on a daily basis?

A great leader will inspire a team to perform cohesively to achieve project objectives.
