Invitation to Pin PR-Net

If you are in the Cape Town region, diarise 11 February 2014 for the next PR-Net (@PRNetZa) get together.
Speaker will be Lianne Burton (@LiBurt), a communications consultant specialising in brand messaging and multi-channel content creation. Lianne honed her editorial skills in publishing - distinguishing herself as assistant editor of Cosmopolitan, launch editor of ELLE Decoration, editor of House and Leisure and deputy GM/marketing director of Johnnic magazines.

In 2009 she was hired as executive marketing manager to set up and lead Cape Town Tourism's destination marketing team in preparation for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, crafting and rolling out a social media strategy that has since been acknowledged as global best practice in the industry. In 2011 she moved to the Cape Town Partnership, heading up communications for Cape Town's successful World Design Capital bid.

Lianne will be talking about herself as an 'accidental curator' on Pinterest, on which platform she is regarded as an influential trend tracker and taste shaper.

Pinterest has been described as the first social media channel made for marketing. Attracting over 70 million users since launching in March 2010, it was last year's fastest growing social channel. More significantly, Pinterest far outstrips Twitter and Facebook in terms of conversion rates and e-commerce. So the question should be 'how' rather than 'whether' to integrate it into the marketing mix.
