Our two special guest speakers are VERITY and MARY MYRDAL.
Verity is the singer/songwriter best known for her innovative approach to the music industry where she sold an album that 'didn't exist' online. In the process she not only gained 2000 buyers from 25 countries around the world but also donated over R30,000 to Women Empowerment and Artist Upliftment charities. Her story has been shared in numerous documentaries including Journey To The Core and Carte Blanche, and is also included in the HSBC Top 100 Business Ideas in the UK and the Wits University MBA programme on viral marketing.
As a result Verity now speaks on innovation and creative thinking around SA and in Europe and is an accredited Edward De Bono 6 Thinking Hats trainer. Her training work enables her to empower individuals and businesses with invaluable thinking tools designed to help them innovate, problem solve and gain the competitive edge in their industries. She offer one and two day 6 Thinking Hats and Creative Thinking workshops around South Africa that are energising, inspiring and enlightening.
Verity has recently returned home after a 1200km walk through France and Spain in memory of her mother, and her story of her experience will be featured in the Balance Life and Get It magazines in the next few months
Mary Myrdal; owner of Senorita Silver will be taking us all on a trip to the land of mariachi, margaritas, mariposas and macho men.
"It is said that in life, when one door closes another opens.
In 1994 a huge door closed for me when my husband died. But little by little with the help of friends and family, I learnt to push open a whole lot of new doors. Mostly they lead me to MEXICO.
In the middle of 1996, I went with my son Grant and his wife Michal on a surfing ‘safari’ down the coasts of California, through Baja and into mainland Mexico. What a treasure trove I discovered.
I discovered a whole new lifestyle, new food, new music and new and ancient philosophies. But most of all I learnt, over time, to build a new life for myself through buying and selling Mexican silver jewellery, I left behind my profession as a cartographer and became a business woman. This is where the Business Networks have been a great help".
