WomeninTechZA and Silicon Cape partner to promote and network tech ladies
WomeninTechZA and Silicon Cape will be hosting a networking event for ladies in tech in Cape Town on
Date: 8 September.

Time: 18:00 - 20:00

WomeninTechZA (womenintech.co.za) profiles local women in the technology sector. The premise is simple – if you are female and in tech, we want to feature you. The idea is profile as many women as possible, across a range of roles and seniority levels.
As a sector we have two problems. We need to hire women to improve diversity in the workplace. But we cannot find women with the required skills, and we cannot attract young women to the sector because when they look at conferences, in the media and inside technology companies, they mainly see white men (who they can’t relate to), doing what they perceive to be ‘boring’ jobs. In order to improve both one and two, WomeninTechZA aims to act as a showcase and provide a platform where technology companies can find women to hire, and to start changing the image of the tech sector by showing the world the diverse faces of ICT.
The site launched on 3 July and has generated a lot of interest in the sector. The event of the 8th will be the first of a series of networking events to be held in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
WomeninTechZA managing human Samantha Perry says she’s very excited to be launching this next phase of the WomeninTechZA journey and would like to thank Silicon Cape for their help and support.
Silicon Cape is a non-profit, community owned and driven movement, that aims to create a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem for tech in the Cape. This is done through skills development, promotion and partnerships, networking, increasing sources and access to capital, and regulatory reform. Silicon Cape is a community of techentrepreneurs, developers, creatives, angel investors, and VC's who are passionate about entrepreneurship and the roles we play in the future of South Africa.
Silicon Cape is proud to co-host this event with Samantha and use the online platform to promote WomeninTechZA, to encourage more women to join our growing community as well as consider careers in tech.
