SPEAKER:
Ira Chaleff is the founder and president of Executive Coaching & Consulting Associates.  He has been named one of the top 100 leadership thinkers by Executive Excellence Magazine. Based in Washington, DC, Ira has done extensive work with federal agencies and the US Congress in addition to the for-profit and non-profit sectors.  Ira is visiting faculty at both The Federal Executive Institute in Charlottesville, Virginia and Georgetown University. Ira's classic book, The Courageous Follower: Standing Up To and For Our Leaders, now in its third edition, has been translated into half a dozen languages. His model has been the subject of multiple doctoral dissertations. He is co-editor of the book, The Art of Followership: How Great Followers Make Great Leaders and Organizations, part of the Warren Bennis Leadership Series.  His most recent book, Intelligent Disobedience:  Doing Right When What You’re Told To Do Is Wrong was voted best new leadership book of 2015 by the University of San Diego and has been featured in publications including the NY Times, Forbes.com, Fast Company and in the UK on World Television and BBC Radio. This year he has already spoken on this ground breaking topic at the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard University, the Graduate School of Public Accounting at the University of Wisconsin, and the Tobias Leadership Center at the University of Indiana. Ira is on the Board of Directors of the International Leadership Association and Chairman Emeritus of the non-partisan Congressional Management Foundation. He has worked with legislatures in West Africa through democracy building initiatives. This is his first visit to South Africa.
