Mteto has been the driving force behind Microsoft’s massive Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Programme, which will see the company spend R500m to grow several small black-owned software companies over the next seven years. He believes strongly in employee engagement and empowerment. This approach saw Microsoft South Africa win the Deloitte’s Best Company to Work for Survey in 2010. Before joining Microsoft, Mteto spent 12 years at IBM, where he held a series of senior executive roles. When he was on an international assignment with IBM in Paris, he was named one of Yale University’s World Fellows of Global Leadership for 2004.
