SPEAKER PROFILE:

Gerald joined East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL) as group finance and strategy director in 1999.  By 2002, he had played a leading role in establishing EABL as the top branded beverage alcohol business in the region through the successful share swap deal with South Africa Breweries, and the acquisitions of UDV Kenya and UDV Uganda. During this time EABL was voted the “Most Respected Company in East Africa” four years in a row.

After a year as strategy and change director with Guinness Nigeria, Gerald was appointed group managing director EABL in 2004.  Over a five year period, he transformed the business in East Africa, sponsoring expansion into local geographies. He also led the expansion of the business into new product areas entering the adult premium soft drink segment with Alvaro and growing the Senator brand to become a significant part of EABL’s business.

Over the years, Gerald has been recognised by his countrymen most notably; the Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear – MBS (a Presidential award in recognition of outstanding and distinguished services rendered to the nation), he served in the initial Advisory Board for the Strathmore Business School, was nominated to the AIESEC Hall of Fame and was a Member of the initial Presidential Steering Committee for Kenya Vision 2030.

Gerald took over as Managing Director of brandhouse in August 2009. Brandhouse is a leading Total Beverage Alcohol business in South Africa that offers a range of iconic spirit, beer and RTD brands. Brandhouse has outperformed all competitors over the last 7 years in South Africa in terms of share gain. Notably, his passion for innovation, people and developing talent, as well as establishing an iconic business as responsible corporate on all fronts depicts the brandhouse journey under his reign.
